Your selection

WCRC Culture Crest2026–27 cycle

To the leadership of every organisation in the 2026–27 cohort,

Your organisation is one of 1,000 selected as eligible for assessment in the 2026–27 edition of India's Most Valuable Workplaces.

Each organisation was selected within its own industry, across 14 sectors and 71 industries, and each has a published reason for its selection: scale, growth, standing, workforce complexity or disclosure maturity.

Selection is made by research. It cannot be applied for or purchased, and it says nothing yet about the quality of your workplace — only that it is significant enough to be worth measuring. The cohort is closed for this cycle: only the 1,000 selected organisations can be assessed.

This proposal explains how we answer one question for your organisation: how valuable is your workplace? It sets out the ten parameters we measure, the science we use, what the answer will tell you, and what it costs.

Abhimanyu Ghosh
Chairman, Evaluation — Culture Crest

01

The question

How valuable is your workplace?

Every company can tell you what its brand is worth. Almost none can tell you what its workplace is worth. India's Most Valuable Workplaces exists to answer that question for each organisation, on evidence, and on WCRC's published parameters.

What we mean by valuable

An organisation's workplace is valuable when the conditions people work in create value that can be shown: for the people who work there, and for the business that employs them. That value also has to be shared fairly enough to last.

So the question is never only "do people like it here?" It is: what does this workplace produce, for whom, and will it still be producing it in three years?

A valuable workplace is one where the conditions people work in demonstrably create value — for the people who work there and for the enterprise that employs them — and where that value is distributed fairly enough to be sustained.

Demonstrably

Reputation and intent don't count. The value has to be shown in evidence.

For both

A workplace that is pleasant but produces little doesn't qualify, and neither does one that produces a lot by wearing people out.

Sustained

Value made this quarter at the cost of losing the people next year doesn't count.

The answer you receive, in six parts

1 — How valuable, overall0–100

Workplace Value Score

One composite across all ten parameters, published as a whole number.

2 — At what levelV1–V6

Performance band

From Value Vanguard (85–100) to Value Entrant (below 45).

3 — Where the value comes from10

Parameter scores

A score for each parameter, showing where your workplace creates value and where it loses it.

4 — How evenlySpread

Profile spread

The gap between your strongest and weakest parameter, which one number can hide.

5 — For whomGaps

Equity gaps

Whether opportunity, reward and voice reach every employee group equally.

6 — Against whomSector

Industry position

Where you stand against organisations in your own industry, never against unlike businesses.

Seven things that define it

01 — Selected

Chosen by research

The 1,000 organisations are selected by WCRC's published selection methodology. There is no application, and a place cannot be bought.

02 — Published

Every score, whatever it is

Each assessed organisation commits at signing to publishing its composite score and band. The title means something because the number behind it is always visible.

03 — Audited

Evidence from three streams

Employee survey 35%, systems audit 25%, verified outcome data 40%. Two-thirds of every score comes from the organisation's own records, checked three ways.

04 — Value

What the workplace produces

Capability built, performance enabled, talent kept and opportunity shared, measured as outcomes a CEO, CFO and board can use.

05 — Equity

Fairness inside the index

Half the ten parameters are the WCRC Equity Index. How an organisation distributes opportunity is part of what it is worth, not an add-on.

06 — Honest

One number, never hiding

Every report carries the profile spread, the gap between the strongest and weakest parameter, and scores are placed against the organisation's own industry.

07 — Governed

Published standards

Every statistical threshold is published and tested before a result is released, under an independent Methodology Council. The fee pays for the work, never for the result.

02

Our parameters

Ten parameters. Fifty-five indicators.

"Valuable" is measured on WCRC's own parameters, the WCRC Workplace Value Index. Each parameter answers one question about your workplace. Each is measured through five or six named indicators, and every indicator is evidenced, not asserted.

Why the weights are nearly even. Each parameter carries between 9% and 11%. No evidence shows that one parameter matters 40% more than another, so the index doesn't claim it. Near-even weights also leave nothing to game: no single parameter can carry the score.

Why five of them are the Equity Index. Parameters 6 to 10 are the WCRC Equity Index, unchanged. We hold that a workplace that creates value but shares it unfairly is extracting value, not creating it. So fairness is part of what a workplace is worth, not a separate score beside it.

Our scientific methodology

How the answer is measured

An answer to "how valuable is your workplace?" is only worth having if it is accurate, fair and repeatable. Every step below is fixed and published before any organisation is assessed, and it is the same for every organisation.

Every parameter is measured three ways

Stream 1 — 35%

Employee survey

What people experience. WCRC's own instrument, run on WCRC's platform, translated and tested with your employees before it opens.

Stream 2 — 25%

Systems audit

What your organisation has built. Policies and process documents scored against the Workplace Value Index rubric by two WCRC analysts working independently.

Stream 3 — 40%

Verified outcome data

What actually happened. Figures from your HR and business systems, verified before they can count toward a score.

When all three agree, there is evidence. When they disagree, there is a finding — and the finding is usually worth more to you than the score.

Making unlike numbers comparable

Indicators arrive in incompatible units and are converted to a common 0–100 scale by one of three rules, fixed per indicator and published.

RuleApplied toMethod
Criterion-referencedSurvey items and audit itemsScale point mapped directly to 0–100
Sector-referencedProductivity, pay, attrition, tenurePercentile against the sector's assessed distribution
Threshold-referencedCycle times, completion rates, coverageAgainst a published target, with a floor and a ceiling

Sector-referenced indicators are why a bank is never scored against a factory. A company is placed against its own industry's distribution.

How the score is built

Stream score, within a parameterStream score = mean of that parameter's normalised indicator scores available in that stream
Parameter scoreParameter = (0.35 × survey) + (0.25 × systems audit) + (0.40 × verified outcome data)
CompositeComposite = Σ (parameter score × parameter weight), published as a whole number

Published: 70, band V3 Value Leader. Profile spread: 24 points (81 highest, 57 lowest) — a varied profile.
The client's private report says what the published number cannot: this company attracts and deploys talent well, and distributes opportunity badly. Equitable Opportunity at 57 against Talent Magnetism at 81 is not a gap to be managed — it is the thing that will pull the 81 down within three years, because the people who notice an unfair promotion system first are the ones with somewhere else to go.
Illustrative figures throughout. They do not describe any assessed company.

The verification gate

Outcome data is supplied by you, so every figure passes three checks before it can score. This is the step that makes the result defensible: every number in your score traces to a record.

  1. Definitional conformance. The figure matches WCRC's published definition, using ISO 30414 human capital definitions where one applies.
  2. Source traceability. It reconciles to a system of record — HRIS, payroll, finance — not to a spreadsheet prepared for the assessment.
  3. Internal consistency. It is tested against your other figures and your public disclosures.
  4. If a figure fails, it is dropped — never estimated or substituted — and the gap is disclosed in your report.

The science at every step

MethodWhat WCRC doesWhy it matters to your answer
Instrument designMulti-item scales for every parameter, written to WCRC's definitions and pre-tested with a small group of your employeesA single question can be misread. Several items measuring the same thing can be checked against each other
TranslationTranslation into up to three languages, checked for equivalence of meaningEvery employee answers the same question, whatever language they answer in
SamplingStratified by employee group and location, sized for the precision standardEvery part of the organisation is heard in proportion, and scores are accurate to ±3 points
Response qualityScreens out incomplete, patterned and implausibly fast responses before analysisOnly considered answers count
RepresentativenessWeights responses to your actual workforce compositionA group that answers in large numbers can't outweigh one that answers less
ReliabilityTests the internal consistency of each parameter's itemsProves the items measure one thing consistently
Structural validityConfirmatory factor analysis of the ten-parameter structureProves the ten parameters are distinct, not ten names for the same feeling
Measurement invarianceTests that employee groups read items the same wayEquity gaps reflect real differences, not different readings of a question
Inter-rater reliabilityTwo analysts score the systems audit independently, against a written rubricAn audit score doesn't depend on who happened to score it
Data verificationThree checks on every outcome figure, using ISO 30414 human capital definitions where one appliesEvery number in the score traces to a record
NormalisationThree published rules convert every indicator to a 0–100 scaleUnlike units become comparable, and you are compared with your own industry
TriangulationCompares the three evidence streams within each parameterWhere survey, audit and data disagree, the disagreement is reported as a finding
Significance testingEvery reported gap and change is tested at 95% confidence, with correction for multiple comparisons and effect sizesNothing is reported as a difference unless it is one
Qualitative codingTwo researchers code interviews and focus groups independentlyThemes come from the evidence, not from one reader's impression
Value linkage (Signature)Statistical analysis relating your parameter scores to your own business outcomes over the yearShows which parameters move together with results in your organisation. It is reported as association, not as proof of cause
GovernanceAn independent Methodology Council reviews the framework every year; all thresholds are publishedThe rules are fixed in advance and are the same for every organisation

What your organisation provides

  • People. One HR point of contact, a leadership sponsor, and an internal announcement before the survey opens.
  • Documents. Workplace policies and process documents.
  • Data. Outcome data in WCRC's template, aggregated or pseudonymised, traceable to a system of record.
  • Time. About 15 minutes per employee for the survey.
  • No employee names, at any point.

What your employees are promised

  • An anonymity statement and consent notice before the survey opens.
  • Results suppressed for any group of fewer than 10 respondents.
  • No individual response ever visible to the employer.
  • Data handled under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and DPDP Rules, 2025.
  • A survey employees don't trust measures their caution, not their experience. This is why these are commitments, not small print.

One score can hide a lopsided organisation. So every private report carries the profile spread: the gap between your highest and lowest parameter. Under 15 points is even; 15 to 30 is varied. Over 30 means the composite is not describing you well, and the report tells you which parameter to look at instead.

Your title and licence run for 12 months from publication. In a year-long engagement, your published result is refreshed through the year. In Signature, the year-end re-assessment renews both for another 12 months.

The cohort

One of 1,000

The 2026–27 cohort of 1,000 organisations was selected from a 2,500-slot research universe spanning 14 sectors and 71 industries, using WCRC's published selection methodology. Only these 1,000 can be assessed this cycle.

How the 1,000 were chosen

  • Eligibility. 300+ employees in India, three years' operating history, a registered Indian entity, an identifiable HR function and system of record, and enough public evidence to state why it was selected.
  • Allocation by employment, not revenue. Places were shared across sectors by the size of their workforce and the number of eligible employers, then adjusted for how deliverable an assessment is this year.
  • Industry quotas. Every industry has fixed places, so no industry is crowded out by a more visible neighbour.
  • A stated reason. Every selected organisation has a published one-line rationale: scale, growth, standing, workforce complexity or disclosure maturity.

Closed for the cycle

The list does not grow during 2026–27, for any reason. An organisation outside it cannot commission an assessment this cycle.

Not a verdict

Selection says an organisation is worth measuring. It says nothing about its workplace, and a selected organisation can be assessed into any band.

Your choice

Being selected does not oblige you to be assessed. WCRC does not publish which organisations decline.

The year-long engagements

From a result to a rhythm

The Assessment ends at the readout. Intelligence and Signature continue for twelve months on an annual retainer, so every leadership conversation runs on current evidence. Signature applies every scientific process in the WCRC methodology.

What each activity involves

Intelligence, Signature

Pulse survey

A shorter survey of about seven minutes, run each quarter after the baseline. It updates the survey stream of each parameter so you can see movement.

Intelligence, Signature

Focus group

A 60–90 minute facilitated session with 8–10 employees from one group, on the parameter your data flags. Recorded with consent, coded independently by two researchers, and reported without names.

Intelligence, Signature

Leadership briefing

A quarterly session with your leadership team: what moved, why, and what the action tracker shows is on or off course.

Intelligence, Signature

Live dashboard

Your parameter scores, equity gaps and action tracker, updated after each pulse. Intelligence gives a CEO and CHRO view; Signature adds cuts by function, location and manager.

Intelligence, Signature

Mid-year data refresh

Your outcome data is re-collected and re-verified at month six. It carries 40% of every parameter, so keeping it current matters most.

Signature

Leadership interviews

Fifteen one-to-one interviews of 45–60 minutes with senior leaders, to test what the data shows against how decisions are really made.

Signature

Value linkage analysis

Links your parameter scores statistically to your own business outcomes, such as attrition, productivity and internal mobility, to show which parameters are moving results in your organisation.

Signature

Year-end re-assessment

The full assessment again at month twelve. It measures a year of change and renews your title and licence for another 12 months.

Weeks 1–2Editorial research and pre-interviews by WCRC Studios
Weeks 3–4On-location filming
Weeks 5–6Edit by WCRC Studios and TV9 editorial; factual-accuracy review
ScheduledBroadcast date set by NEWS9 editorial scheduling

What we need from you

  • Leadership time for interview: 45 to 60 minutes
  • Filming access and a single point of contact
  • Written consent from every employee who appears
  • Private-report findings appear only with your written consent. Your published score and band may be cited.

Independent of your score

A feature never changes a scoreCommissioning a NEWS9 feature does not change your score, band or published position, and declining one has no effect on them.

What every rupee pays for

Nothing in a Valuable Workplace engagement is free, and nothing is hidden. The badge, the licence, the editorial and your company page are each a costed line below. The title, the score and the band are not: they are the outcome of the work, and are not for sale.

What the price is not based on

Your headcount, your industry or your likely score. Every price is fixed and the same for every organisation in the cohort.

What it never buys

A score, a band, a position in the cohort, an India's Most Loved 250 rank, or editorial control over a NEWS9 feature.

Why nothing is free

Every element, badge and licence included, is work that someone at WCRC does. Pricing it openly is what lets you see that the result itself was never part of the price.

Terms

  • Fixed price. Not scaled by headcount, industry or score.
  • Payment. Assessment: 100% in advance at signing. Intelligence and Signature: 50% in advance at signing, and the balance in three equal instalments at the start of Q2, Q3 and Q4. Both are 12-month commitments; if an engagement ends early, the work already delivered is settled.
  • Upgrade credit. Move from the Assessment to a retainer within 90 days of your readout and the ₹1,50,000 is credited against the 50% advance. The Intelligence advance becomes ₹1,50,000 and the Signature advance ₹4,50,000, plus GST.
  • Publication. By signing, you agree that your composite score and band will be published, whatever they are.
  • Nothing free. Every item is costed inside a fee. No badge, licence or feature is issued without an engagement.
  • Data readiness. If more than three of the ten parameters cannot be evidenced, you cannot be scored this cycle. WCRC offers a data-readiness engagement instead.
  • Validity. This proposal is valid for 30 days from issue, and only for the 2026–27 cycle.
  • Taxes. GST at 18% applies to every fee and add-on.

13 — Our commitments

The fee buys the assessment

Questions

Asked before signing

The title

Can the title be bought?

No. The assessment is paid for because a primary audit costs money to run. The result is not for sale: the score is published whatever it says, and no result is negotiable.

Why is our score always published?

Every assessed organisation holds the same title, so the score is what carries the meaning. A private-result option would turn the title into a receipt.

How is this different from India's Most Loved 250 Workplaces?

Most Loved asks how it feels to work somewhere, and ranks organisations from the outside using secondary research. Most Valuable asks what working there is worth, and assesses it from the inside using your own verified data.

Price

Is anything included free?

No. Every item, including the badge kit, the rights licence, the editorial and your company page, is work WCRC does and is costed inside the fee. Section 11 shows every line.

Does the price depend on our size?

No. Prices are fixed for every organisation in the cohort, whatever its headcount.

Does a higher engagement get a deeper assessment?

No. The assessment is identical in all three. The retainers add time, interactions and analysis around it, never a different measurement.

How is payment scheduled?

The Assessment is paid 100% in advance at signing. Intelligence and Signature are paid 50% in advance at signing, and the balance in three equal quarterly instalments at the start of Q2, Q3 and Q4. The television feature is paid half at commissioning and half at final cut. GST at 18% applies throughout.

Can we start with the Assessment and upgrade later?

Yes. Move to Intelligence or Signature within 90 days of your readout and the full ₹1,50,000 is credited against your 50% advance.

Rights and television

Can we use the badge in advertising and in bids?

Yes, in every engagement. Because every Most Valuable Workplace is assessed, the licence covers paid advertising, tenders and RFPs, agency sub-licensing and score disclosure, as well as your own channels.

Can our group companies use the badge?

No. The licence covers the assessed legal entity only. Another group company would need its own assessment, and can have one only if it is in the cohort.

Who controls the NEWS9 feature?

WCRC Studios and TV9 editorial choose the angle, the people on screen and the final cut. Your team checks facts such as names, figures and titles. Private-report findings appear only with your written consent.

Does a NEWS9 feature affect our score?

No. Commissioning one does not change your score, band or published position, and declining one has no effect on them.

Data and privacy

What if we can't supply some of the data?

The indicator is dropped, the remaining evidence is re-weighted, and the gap is disclosed in your report. If more than three of the ten parameters cannot be evidenced, you cannot be scored this cycle, and WCRC offers a data-readiness engagement instead.

Can individual employees be identified?

No. Results for any group of fewer than 10 respondents are suppressed, and no individual response is ever visible to you.

Can we challenge our score?

A factual input, such as a headcount, a definition or a misread policy, can be corrected through a documented process. A score cannot be challenged.
